Mr. B

Finally home

20 years old · Paint Horse · Companion horse (not rideable)

Some horses capture your attention.

Mister B captured Eleanor's heart.

From the moment she met him, it was the kindness in his eyes that stood out. There was a quiet gentleness about him, a softness that made people want to be near him. He didn't need to do anything extraordinary. Simply being himself was enough.

At 20 years old, Mister B is one of the distinguished gentlemen of the sanctuary. Equal parts herd boss, trusted companion, and occasionally grumpy old man, he enjoys spending his days doing exactly what a horse should be able to do — grazing in the pasture, soaking up the sunshine, and enjoying the company of his herd.

Mister B has never been a riding horse, and he never will be.

And that's perfectly okay.

In a world where horses are often valued for what they can do for people, Mister B is a reminder that their worth is not measured by their usefulness. Not every horse needs to be ridden. Some horses offer something far more important.

Mister B brings calm.

He brings comfort.

He brings peace.

There is something grounding about standing beside him. His quiet presence has a way of slowing the world down and reminding us that connection doesn't require expectations.

Despite never being rideable, Mister B has enriched Eleanor's life in ways that cannot be measured. He became one of the reasons she dreamed of owning a property where horses could simply be horses — without needing to earn their place through performance or purpose.

Mister B has special care needs due to a retracted tendon and a club foot. To keep him comfortable and mobile, he requires regular hoof care from a farrier experienced in corrective and therapeutic trimming. He also receives daily supplements to help manage inflammation and support his long-term comfort and mobility as he ages.

Today, he spends his days exactly as he should: safe, loved, and surrounded by open pasture.

He may never carry a rider.

But he carries an important lesson — that every horse has value, every horse deserves dignity, and every horse deserves to be loved simply for who they are.
